Present: Reg Beliveau, Ron Kilburn, Members; Elisabeth Nance, Secretary
Absent: Neal Spear, Member
- Welcome and Agenda Review – Mr. Beliveau called the meeting to order at 3:07 p.m. In answer to a question from Mr. Kilburn, Ms. Nance clarified her role is to act a secretary assisting with administrative functions to include preparing the agenda, taking minutes, completing other paperwork as deemed necessary.
- New Business
- Election of Officers
- Mr. Kilburn made a motion, seconded by Ms. Nance, to appoint Mr. Beliveau Chair. Motion carried.
- Mr. Beliveau made a motion, seconded by Ms. Nance, to appoint Mr. Kilburn Vice Chair. Motion carried.
- Review and approve Rules of Procedure – Mr. Beliveau made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kilburn, to table the Rule of Procedure review and approval until the next meeting. Motion carried.
- Set meeting date – March 8, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Swanton Public Library.
- Determine priorities
- Mr. Kilburn gave a broad overview of the commission’s role and purpose.
- Mr. Kilburn noted an inventory of historic buildings had been completed in either the 1980s or 1990s so that may need to be updated, which is a good project for the commission.
- Mr. Kilburn would like to see the Town Office building be listed on the National Register. Once Swanton completes the Certified Local Government process the Historic Preservation Commission could apply for a grant to fund someone to write the application.
- There was also discussion about a kiosk with a map and brochures highlighting points of interest in and around Swanton.

- Adjourn – Mr. Beliveau made a motion at 3:48 p.m., seconded by Mr. Kilburn, to adjourn. Motion carried.
